Were we lucky in the summer transfer window

If we had got first choice Colbaek would we have the workhorse that is Kouyate and if we had got Wickham we would not have Sakho. Second choices both but think both appear to be the better choices.

What's great is that all these new boys can control the ball, which shouldn't be anything so special in a premier league team, but it's been so long for us, longer than Sam's been here, sice we had a team like this, where passes can be fizzed to feet at high speed and the ball sticks, and is passed on again and again.
All to good to be true.
What's the catch?

Not lucky, just need a few more games before the both of them are found out and their season is over.

Would probably say we are a GK. top quality centre half and a right back away from being capable of breaking into the top 7/8 this season but will finish again around mid table`ish
G & S are the best thing to of happened to this club in my lifetime as a supporter and we should all be grateful for the investment they have put in
693 days until a new EXCITING history for this great club begins

You could actually include CFC in that too. If you want to.

Agreed. But you could extend that to the squad somewhat too.
When you look at Saturday we didn't have Nolan, Jenkinson, Zarate, Poyet, Collins, Jarvis, Morrison, Carroll, Vaz Te all not starting.
It's quite frightening to actually see how much depth we have got at the moment.

Should have bought Forster when he was available. Would have been that position sorted for years.

I'd agree with that. Adrian is an ok stop-gap keeper for this year, but it should be a position we really look to strengthen next summer

Still think the keeper position needs looking at, I d have a go and getting Cilliessen in from Ajax, who`s only 25 and played in the World Cup.
I just don`t think Adrian inspires total confidence.

Can't recall to be fair, had never heard of him. Out of contract after financial troubles at his club.

It was a great window but I just think we should have chased Lescott harder. We are one class central defender from being a good team
In January we have to get that class centreback (we can't waste Song or Kouyote) and we also need to try and tempt Chelsea into loaning Petr Cech.
Do that and we are top 10 even top 7

We were linked with a free transfer striker last week.

Sully
all clubs are selling clubs, at the right price. it's highly doubtful that we could provide players with CL football in the next couple of years and when a big club with plenty of money comes calling then players naturally want to progress their careers and earnings and move on, especially if the club they are at cannot match what is being offered on all levels. I dont have an issue with that as long as we get good value for our players.

Sully I'm glad you mentioned Cressell. Been outstanding. I love his first touch and ball control.
These are the sort of players we should be buying from the Championship.
Next a decent right back.

This is potenially the best WHU team we have seen in many many years. I for one am trouser tentingly excited by what I have seen thus far.
We finally have a team that could do some special things and we didnt pay a fortune for it either.
Hats off to Sam and the board for this, credit where credit is due in my book.

Can see Cresswell becoming a regular in the England squad if he carries on the way he is. I also hope we have put a massive release clause in Kouyate's contract. I do hope there is no need to sell, we can't go back to being a "selling" club.

I would say our summer business was anything but lucky. I think it was fucking superb.

No not really, unless you say we were unlucky last summer.
If you say we were 'shit' last summer, then you'd have to say we were 'good' rather than lucky this one, in my opinion.
